It originated with Walter Bergeron, a bartender at New Orleans' Carousel Bar in the Hotel Monteleone. The name is French for 'old square”, in reference to the city's French Quarter neighborhood.

Ingredients

Product	Amount	Unit
Rye whiskey	30	ml
Cognac	30	ml
Sweet Vermouth	30	ml
Bénédictine	1	teaspoon
Peychauds Bitters	2	dashes

Instructions

Pour all ingredients into mixing glass with ice cubes. Stir well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
